3rd District Congressional Candidates Both Want to Cut Spending
NORFOLK - A race is shaping up for the Republican nomination for Congress in Nebraska's 3rd Congressional District, where incumbent Adrian Smith faces a challenge from U.S. Army Reserve Retired Col. Tom Brewer. Brewer says he knows it won't be easy to defeat a sitting Congressman, but says voters are telling him they want to see progress made on two issues paralyzing the nation: the increasing size of government and the burgeoning national debt. Smith agrees that Congress needs to control spending and decrease the $17 trillion national debt. Smith and Brewer were in Norfolk Saturday for the meeting of the Nebraska Republican Party Central Committee.
