Construction Begins on $20-million Grain Handling Facility in Laurel

LAUREL - Agrex Inc. held ground breaking ceremonies today for a 2.6-million bushel BNSF railway shuttle loading facility in Laurel. The $20-million project will bring eight full-time jobs to the community. Laurel Economic Development Coordinator Luke Virgil says the new facility will also make grain prices more competitive in the area. The decision last year by BNSF to purchase a short line railroad  that runs through Laurel paved the way for Agrex to commit to the community. The facility is expected to be completed in August 2014. Agrex also has loading facilities in Enola and Superior.
