Demolition permits issued for future CVS Pharmacy site

NORFOLK - Norfolk city officials thought demolition work had begun on the site of a new CVS Pharmacy in Norfolk without proper demolition permits – but that was NOT the case.  City Prevention Manager Trent Howard says the activity at the corner of 13th Street and Norfolk Avenue was not authorized by CVS and some of it may have been looting.  Howard says demolition permits were obtained Thursday morning. He says the permit process helps notify utilities of work that could disrupt service or even damage pipes and lines.  CVS has purchased property in the southwest part of the intersection for a new pharmacy. Plans are to have the business constructed and open by October.
