Dispute Turns Violent

NORFOLK - A Norfolk man is in the Madison County Jail following after allegedly hitting his landlord on the head with a baseball bat.  Police Capt. Mike Bauer says the Norfolk Police Division have received multiple calls to 308 South 13th Place over the past several days as part of an ongoing dispute between Gale Thompson and his landlord.  Early Tuesday morning, at 1:25, officers responded to a call to the address.  When they arrived, the victim was bleeding from the head and claimed that Thompson had struck him in the head with a baseball bat.  Officers found Thompson and after talking with him, placed him under arrest.  Bauer says Thompson was uncooperative;  officers had to place him in the prone position and force his hands behind his back.  Thompson continued to resist as officers led him to the police car.  Officers charged Thompson, age 57, with 2nd degree assault and resisting arrest.  He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
