Early Ballots Available for May Primary
MADISON - If you have already made up your mind on the candidates and issues in the May 13th Primary Election, you may vote now. Madison County Clerk Nancy Scheer says early ballots were available Monday, and many were mailed out that day. She says voters may also vote in her office beginning April 14th. Scheer says all that is needed to obtain an early ballot is a written application signed by either the voter or the voter’s agent. Scheer does remind early voters that their ballots must be returned to her office before the polls close on May 13th in order to be counted. Also, those who need to register are reminded that the deadline to mail in a voter registration is April 25th, and the deadline to register in the clerk’s office is 6 p.m. on May 2nd. Those who have never voted before, those who have moved since last voting, those who have changed their name or who wish to change their party affiliation are required to register.
