EU moves threaten ethanol proudction

LINCOLN -  Several members of Congress are writing to the U-S trade representative and the commerce secretary, asking for a review of a potential threat to ethanol. The European Union has imposed an anti-dumping duty on ethanol imposed on American producers. Todd Sneller, administrator of the Nebraska Ethanol Board, says a challenge by the World Trade Organization is needed to keep world markets open for free trade.  Nebraska is the country's number-two ethanol producer, just behind Iowa.  Ethanol is responsible for about 1,200 jobs in Nebraska with 24 plants operating with a capacity of more than 2-billion gallons a year, consuming 700-million bushels of corn.
