Five Impaired Drivers Arrested over the Weekend
NORFOLK - Five Norfolk residents were arrested for driving under the influence of either alcohol or drugs over the weekend. Police Captain Mike Bauer says Anthony Newill, 26, was arrested Friday afternoon for driving under the influence of drugs when he was found asleep in a running car near the intersection of North 11th Street and Roosevelt Avenue. Early Saturday morning, Kentrell Monroe, 22, was charged with first offense driving under the influence of alcohol after making an improper turn in the 1200 block of South 1st Street. Bauer says officers also found more than an ounce but less than a pound of marijuana in Monroe’s vehicle. On Saturday morning, officers arrested Megan Leicy, 20, for first offense driving while intoxicated and being a minor in consumption of alcohol. Saturday evening, Tommy Benson, 73, was arrested for first offense driving while intoxicated after an officer observed his vehicle weaving back and forth on Koenigstein Avenue. And shortly after midnight Sunday morning, Abraham Zepeda, 21, was arrested for DUI with a blood alcohol level above .15. Bauer says Zepeda also was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and negligent driving.
