Lame Duck Governor Plans Busy Final 7 Months

LINCOLN -  Voters are selecting candidates to run for governor of Nebraska – with the eventual winner in November replacing Dave Heineman.  Heineman has been governor of Nebraska for nearly 10 years – but he says he doesn’t plan to fade away during his last seven months in office.  Heineman says he will continue to focus on education and job creating over the next seven months. And he will do some preliminary work on the next biennial budget.  In the short term, the Governor says he is also closely watching the fire situation in Nebraska, especially in the southwest part of the state.
