Norfolk City Council approves downtown parking plan

NORFOLK - The Norfolk City Council has approved the downtown parking reorganization plan presented during the council’s May 6th meeting.  The plan calls for free two-hour customer parking on Norfolk Avenue, while employees and residents of area between 1st and 7th Streets, and Braasch and Madison Avenues would be able to park in designated parking areas by purchasing permits for $15 per quarter or $55 for a year.  The Downtown Vehicle Parking District board recommended that violators would first be issued warnings, followed $25 fines for subsequent violations.  The council voted unanimously to approve the board’s recommendation.  It will need to pass two more readings.
