Norfolk Couple Injured in Stanton County Accident
STANTON - A Norfolk couple sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident Friday night at the intersection of Highways 275 and 15 near Pilger. Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says Jody Whitten, 52, was the driver of a westbound SUV at about 8:10 last night. Brandon Bergmeier, 21, of Beatrice was headed east and turned north off Highway 275 into Whitten’s path. Whitten and her husband, 56-year-old Bill Whitten, were transported to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, while Bergmeier was treated at the scene. Unger says seatbelts were in use in both vehicles, and he believes they lessened the severity of injuries. Both vehicles are considered a total loss and the highway intersection was closed for about an hour with traffic re-directed around the scene as the wreckage was removed.
