Norfolk Man Arrested for Kidnapping His Estranged Wife

MADISON-A 49-year-old Norfolk man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping his estranged wife and assaulting her. madison County Sheriff’s Deputy Jon Downey reports that a taser was deployed during the arrest this morning of Kevin Heldt. Downing says Tilden Police requested assistance from the Madison County Sheriff to investigate the disappearance of 49-year-old Rhonda Heldt from her home in Tilden.  Evidence indicated there had been a struggle inside the home Sunday evening, and that Rhonda Heldt left the home against her will.
She was picked up near an abandoned farmhouse southwest of Meadow Grove by a passerby who called 911 and took her to Tilden. She was later transferred to Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh for treatment of her injuries. Downey says Kevin Heldt is charged with kidnapping, making terroristic threats, assault, strangulation, violation of a protection order and possession of methamphetamine.  He is being held in the Madison County Jail. The Antelope County Sheriff’s Department and Nebraska State Patrol assisted in the investigation.
