Officials dedicate Central Park mural, butterfly garden

NORFOLK - Officials from the city of Norfolk, the Norfolk Arts Center and Norfolk Junior High School gathered at Central Park Friday morning to officially dedicate two new beautification projects.  Last month junior high art students in Jackie Ruzicka’s classroom worked with Omaha artist Gerard Pefung to arrive at the concept for a mural on the restroom building.  Then last week, Julie Wisch’s science students planted butterfly bushes, beebalm and blanket flowers to create a butterfly garden.  Junior High principal, Michael Hart says it’s critical for his students to be part of the community.  Members of the community, guided by Arts Center officials, will continue to renovate Central Park throughout the year, Including a re-design of the stage, which will be used this summer for concerts and movies.
