Planning Commission Approves Mining Permit

NORFOLK - The Norfolk City Planning Commission has given approval to a 20-year conditional use permit for a gravel and sand mining operation at the corner of Victory Road and Coolidge Avenue southeast of town. At this week’s meeting, Commission Chairman J.J. Snodgrass read into the record 15 conditions for the permit requested by the Lyman Richey Corporation, including provisions for closing the site at the end of its usefulness for mining.  Lyman Richey plans to operate a temporary plant at the site while another company ends operations there. After that, a permanent plant will be constructed.
