Norfolk city athletes compete in Day Two of State Track & Field Championships

The State Track & Field Championships wrapped up on Saturday.  In the Class ‘A’ Boys Standings, Kearney was the team champion with 83 points.  They won by six points.  Norfolk totaled twelve points.  In the Class ‘A’ Girls Standings, Lincoln Southwest was the champion with 75 points.  They won by 19 points.  In the Class ‘B’ Boys Standings, Cozad was the winner with 69 points.  They won by 23.5 points.  In the Class ‘B’ Girls Standings, Grand Island Northwest was the champion with 52 points.  They won by a single point.  In the Class ‘C’ Boys Standings, Thayer Central was the champion with 41 points.  They won by two points.  Norfolk Catholic finished with 20.5 points.  In the Class ‘C’ Girls Standings, Crofton was the champion with 47 points.  They won by 13 points.  Norfolk Catholic totaled 17 points.  In the Class ‘D’ Boys Standings, Falls City Sacred Heart was the champion with 49.5 points.  They won by 5.5 points.  Hartington High finished third with 40 points and Wausa got fourth with 38 points.  In the Class ‘D’ Girls Standings, O’Neill St. Mary’s was the champion with 65 points.  They won by 4.5 points.  Humphrey St. Francis totaled 42 to place third.
Regarding Norfolk High, Charles Goodman placed third in the Discus, Chelsea Johnson finished third in the 300 Hurdles and eighth in the 100 Hurdles, Erica Dover was fourth in the Shot Put, Leah Larson took sixth in the Triple Jump, and Taylor Thompson and Claire Sintek finished fifth and eighth respectively in the High Jump.
Norfolk Catholic’s Kegan Ehlers finished eighth in the 200 Meter Dash, Matt Miller was seventh in the 800, the Norfolk Catholic boys placed seventh in the 1600 meter relay, Courtney Schindler placed second in the Pole Vault, Bailey Barnes got fifth in the 100 Hurdles, and Alex Anderson placed fourth in the 300 Hurdles.
Lutheran High Northeast’s Ryan Freudenburg got sixth in the Discus, Megan Gebhardt took seventh in the 200 Meter Dash, and the Lutheran High Northeast Girls 400 Meter Relay Team finished seventh.
