The Nebraska volleyball program announced its 2014 volleyball schedule, including a breakdown of the new Big Ten format yesterday.  Thirteen matches against NCAA qualifiers, including showdowns against defending national champion Penn State, NCAA runner-up Wisconsin and NCAA semifinalist Texas highlight the schedule.  The docket, which includes 15 home matches at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, will provide numerous tests for the Huskers as they come off a 26-7 season which included a berth in the NCAA regional final.  Nebraska will open the season at the Devaney Center with the AVCA Showcase that features NCAA regional semifinalist Florida State and NCAA regional finalist Stanford.  The Huskers will face the Seminoles on Aug. 29 and the Cardinal on Aug. 31.  NU will begin Big Ten play on Sept. 24 when the Huskers host Iowa before traveling to Iowa City the following Sept. 27.

Nebraska men's basketball now has some extra recruiting work to do in the Class of 2015.  According to the Omaha World Herald, Keanu Pinder of Sunrise Christian Academy of Kansas, who orally committed to NU last October for 2015, will attend junior college the next two seasons instead.  Pinder, from Australia, is a 6’8, 195-pound wing.  The original plan was for him to spend one more season at Sunrise, then join the Huskers for the 2015-16 season at age 20 and with four years of eligibility.  As for the 2014 Class, Nebraska has two scholarships left and two prospects making visits.

Three Nebraska Cornhusker softball players earned first-team All-Big Ten honors while a trio of underclassmen took home second-team accolades.  Head Coach Rhonda Revelle was also honored by the league, as she was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year.  Senior twins Tatum and Taylor Edwards were named to the first team for the second straight year, while sophomore Hailey Decker was also a first-team selection, earning the first All-Big Ten honor of her career.  Sophomores Alicia Armstrong and Emily Lockman were named all-conference for the second straight year, while freshman MJ Knighten also earned a spot on the second team.  Nebraska’s six honorees ranked second in the conference.  Junior co-captain Mattie Fowler, who suffered a season-ending injury in the eleventh game of the season, was recognized as Nebraska’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.
